Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Happy birthday to us!
In the midst of the ever changing Covid-19 situation and the associated restrictions impacting how we function as a school and school community, the official birth date of our amazing school has actually passed us. While our school is now 60 years old, we do have to wait until early Term 4 for our official celebrations. Save the date cards will be distributed shortly for our 60th Birthday event to be held on Thursday 22 October (to be followed by a school closure day Friday 23 October) and planning is now.
COVID-19 Update
Our Premier has announced step 3 of the COVID-19 roadmap, which means we can now prepare to ease some of the restrictions currently in place for schools, preschools and early years settings. From Monday 29 June, parents, volunteers, departmental support and other service providers may again enter school grounds. All external service providers and volunteers must continue to complete the site access form on entry. Parents/caregivers should continue to physical distance, including at school pick up and drop off, and are not permitted to enter classroom spaces. We would encourage all parents to remain outside the school gates or use the western oval on Keynes Avenue when waiting for children at the end of the school day. Please continue to use QKR for contactless uniform and lunch ordering.
School sport competitions, sports days and carnivals, including inter-school competitions (change room and shower facility use not permitted) can recommence from next week, along with inter-school choirs, bands and other performing arts activities. Students and staff must stay home if they are unwell and physical contact must be limited. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee does not believe that it’s appropriate or practical for students to maintain physical distancing requirements in classrooms or corridors.
Flipped eating & canteen survey
To provide feedback on our term 2 flipped eating trial and our canteen, please click on the following link https://forms.gle/ahiCat6h3UhZPzo1A . The survey will be open to parents/caregivers until 11.30am Friday 3 July. Your responses and comments will help inform planning for Term 3, as we continue to search for ways to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for our students. On Monday night, Governing Council endorsed the continuation of Wednesday to Friday canteen operation for Term 3, with over the counter-sales to recommence at one break per trading day. Please also let us know via the survey if you are available to volunteer in the canteen.
Breakfast club
Our much-loved breakfast club will recommence in Week 2 next term, with our dedicated volunteer group to prepare take-and-go packs for students on Wednesday mornings, starting 29 July. Student leaders will be working with our pastoral care worker Emma Clarke and Deputy Principal Sarah French to assist with the setting up of the Gym and the handing out of yummy breakfast items. Due to on-going Covid-19 restrictions, volunteer contact with students and staff will be minimised and the buffet-style service we are used to will not be available. Unfortunately, parents/caregivers will also be unable to enter the Gym for the breakfast club until further notice.
Carpark safety
The Keynes Avenue staff carpark (in front of the main entrance to our administration building) should not be accessed by parents/caregivers at drop-off and pick-up times. With limited parking and access for staff and essential services, along with high levels of pedestrian traffic around the front of the school at peak times, it is critical that members of the public do not enter this carpark in their vehicles. Drivers are also reminded to obey local road rules and signage to keep our students, staff and families safe.
Early dismissal – last day of term
Just a reminder that students will be dismissed at 2.10pm next Friday 3 July as it is the last day of term. Mid year reports will also be sent home with students at this time.
With kindest regards,
